Training from BWN

On the Ground at the BTA Center in Kuala Lumpur

The Bata Training Academy (BTA) recently held an Improved District Performance (IDP) course at its premises in the Malaysian capital. Rozaidah Othman attended the course, and afterwards spoke to Bata World News to give his feedback on the training.

What is your role at Bata?

I am an international franchising area manager for Bata Singapore

Which training course did you attend and why?

I attended the IDP training in order to have a better understanding of leadership and management processes. Also to learn more about the roles and responsibilities in the company.

Did you meet a lot of new Bata people on the course?

Yes. I met our counterparts from Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. It is a wonderful experience to be able to share the different cultures. We bonded quite a bit during the training, and definitely fostered new friendships with them.

What was the most important part of the program in your opinion?

In my opinion, the product knowledge part. This is vital for us to understand and know the qualities and types of materials, construction and so on, as this will then allow us to be able to confidently coach, advise and lead the rest of our team members effectively.

What was the most surprising thing you learned?

In our last session, we had a case study to analyse. I learned that there is a lot of information and analytics that we can gather. This, when put in context, shows there are a lot of things we can do and implement to improve the stores and the business.

And what did you most enjoy?

The learning environment. We were given tasks and activities to discuss in groups where we shared our opinions and ideas, which I found very enjoyable.

What would you like to say to the course organizers who prepared and ran the course?

Thank you for the great learning experience. The materials and program used were engaging and interactive, and the lessons conducted were very entertaining.

Do you have any suggestions for future courses that would be particularly useful in your sector or region?

Probably a course that provides more in-depth knowledge on product and selling skills.
