On the Ground at an “Influencing and Effective Relationships” Course

A diverse group of Bata people from across the Asia-Pacific region recently learned how to create effective relationships and influence others without using authority at the Bata Training Academy center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The list of participants included Buyers, KPI managers, marketing managers, business development managers, retail operations managers and property accountants. Participant Nitin Bhoria gave Bata World News his perspective on the course.

What is your role at Bata?

Area manager with Bata Malaysia.

Why did you attend the Influencing and Effective Relationships course?

To have a better understanding of my behavior and of others’ in order to develop effective relationships.

Did you meet a lot of new Bata people?

Yes indeed. Besides learning, it’s always great to meet and share ideas with fellow Bata colleagues from other countries during the BTA courses.

What was the most important part of the program in your opinion?

I believe the most important part was the self discovery, to understand why we act the way we do and how to adapt our behavior toward others to get the most out of our working relationships.

What was the most surprising thing you learned?

The most surprising and exciting thing was to learn that all of us can be broadly grouped into four DiSC behavioral styles, and we actually share similar attributes in terms of attitude, behavior and motivation across people with the same style.

And what did you most enjoy?

Practicing different influencing techniques as part of the group activities was definitely fun.

What would you like to say to the course organizers?

I would like to thank Elena [Rizzo] and the BTA for organizing this insightful course that gives practical techniques to build effective relationships and influence without authority. I definitely will see people a little differently from now on!

Do you have any suggestions for future courses that would be particularly useful in your sector or region?

My two suggestions for courses along these lines would be for Motivation and Consumer Behavior.
